Jesus will return—but not as He came the first time. He will not come in humility, but in authority. Not as a servant, but as King. This promise, often called our blessed hope, is meant to shape how we live right now.
THE PROMISE OF HIS RETURN
Jesus made it clear that His departure was not permanent. Before His crucifixion, He told His disciples:
This is not symbolic language. It is a direct promise. Christ is coming back, and His return is personal. He is not sending for us—He is coming for us.
THE MANNER OF HIS COMING
When Jesus returns, it will not be hidden or quiet. Scripture describes a moment that will be unmistakable:
And again:
This will not be a private event. It will be visible, powerful, and final. The world will not question what is happening—every eye will see.
OUR RESPONSE: WATCH AND READY
Because no one knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36), Jesus calls us to live in a state of readiness—not fear, but awareness.
HOLINESS
Our lives should reflect the character of the King we serve.
MISSION
The time we have now matters. We are called to share the Gospel so others may know Him before He returns.
HOPE
Even in difficulty, we stand firm. His return is not something to fear—it is something to look forward to.
CONCLUSION
The return of Christ is not just a future event—it is a present motivation. It reminds us that history is moving toward a conclusion, and that our lives have purpose within it.
Live today as if He could return tonight. Stay awake. Stay faithful.
The King is coming.
